Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer with Fabrication Experience will ensure that all fabricated products meet the required quality standards, from raw material intake through the production process to the final inspection. This role involves working closely with production, engineering, and procurement teams to develop and implement quality control plans for fabrication processes, as well as managing non-conformance issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Assurance & Control:

    • Develop and implement quality control plans for fabrication processes.
    • Perform in-process inspections and final quality checks to ensure that products meet the company's quality standards.
    • Inspect raw materials and work with suppliers to ensure quality compliance before production.
    • Conduct dimensional checks, weld inspections, and verify product tolerances.
    • Identify root causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions.

  2. Process Improvement:

    • Work with cross-functional teams to improve fabrication processes and reduce waste or defects.
    • Analyze production data and quality reports to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
    • Support the development of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives within the fabrication department.

  3. Supplier Quality Management:

    • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet company specifications.
    • Participate in supplier audits and develop supplier quality improvement plans.
    • Resolve supplier non-conformance issues and ensure corrective actions are in place.

  4. Documentation & Compliance:

    • Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, test data, and quality control procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with ISO standards, customer specifications, and industry regulations related to fabrication processes.
    • Participate in internal and external audits, and ensure non-conformance reports (NCRs) are addressed and resolved.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a Quality Engineer in a fabrication environment.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication processes (welding, cutting, forming, etc.).
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS), particularly ISO 9001.
  • Proficient in quality inspection tools and methods (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMM).
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and root cause analysis skills (5 Why, Fishbone diagram).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
