Description

Auto body technicians fix the exterior of vehicles, often after an accident. Their duties include: 

  • Repairing damage: Auto body technicians can fix minor dents and scratches, or replace more serious damage like doors, hoods, and fenders. They use a variety of tools and techniques, including hammers, blocks, plastic fillers, and soldering equipment. 
  • Applying paint: Auto body technicians can mix paint, blend colors, and apply primers and paint with brushes or spray guns. 
  • Estimating costs: Auto body technicians review damage reports and estimate the cost and time of repairs. 
  • Inspecting vehicles: Auto body technicians inspect vehicles for proper handling after repairs. 
  • Working with safety: Auto body technicians operate equipment according to safety guidelines.
