Description

  • Analyze costs: Determine the cost of manufacturing a product, including raw materials and labor
  • Prepare reports: Analyze and report on gross margins, inventory, and overall value
  • Assist with closing: Help with month-end closing and inventory
  • Work with IT: Collaborate with IT departments on system issues
  • Use software: Use software and spreadsheets to help with cost decisions
  • Monitor costs: Monitor costs of goods sold and provide feedback to meet goals 

Other responsibilities of an accountant may include:

  • Managing accounting transactions
  • Preparing budget forecasts
  • Publishing financial statements
  • Reconciling accounts payable and receivable
  • Ensuring timely bank payments
  • Computing taxes and preparing tax returns
