AC Technician Job Role & Responsibilities

Job Summary:

An AC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing air conditioning systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. They diagnose issues, perform regular maintenance, and ensure that HVAC systems operate efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Installation & Setup:

    • Install new air conditioning systems, including split, Duct, Cassette, and central AC units.
    • Connect systems to electrical and refrigerant lines.
    • Ensure proper insulation and ductwork installation.

  2. Maintenance & Servicing:

    • Perform routine maintenance such as cleaning filters, coils, and condenser units.
    • Check and refill refrigerant levels if required.
    • Inspect system components for leaks, wear, or damage.

  3. Repairs & Troubleshooting:

    • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults in AC units.
    • Replace faulty components like compressors, thermostats, and capacitors.
    • Identify and fix refrigerant leaks and recharge systems.

Requirements:

  • ITI/Diploma in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in AC installation / servicing and repair.
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits and refrigeration principles.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in tight spaces.
