Job Overview: VMC Setter
Company: Auto Diecasting Company

Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Setter to join our team at Auto Diecasting Company. The VMC Setter will be responsible for setting up and operating vertical machining centers to produce high-quality die-cast components. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. VMC Setup & Operation:

    • Set up and configure VMC machines according to engineering specifications and production requirements.
    • Ensure that tools, fixtures, and programs are correctly installed and calibrated.
    • Operate VMC machines to produce parts within the specified tolerances and quality standards.

  2. Quality Control & Inspection:

    • Inspect finished parts for conformance to specifications using measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
    • Perform routine checks to ensure that parts are produced to the correct quality standards.
    • Troubleshoot any deviations or defects and make necessary adjustments.

  3. Tool Maintenance:

    • Monitor the condition of tools and replace worn or damaged tools as needed.
    • Maintain tool life and ensure the VMC machine operates efficiently.

  4. Machine Maintenance:

    • Perform basic maintenance on VMC machines, such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting components.
    • Report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team to ensure minimal downtime.

  5. Production Efficiency:

    • Ensure that the VMC machine is running at optimal speed and efficiency.
    • Work to minimize machine downtime and maximize output.

  6. Documentation & Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of setup procedures, tooling, and machine performance.
    • Report any production issues, tool wear, or quality concerns to the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in machining or related field is a plus.
  • 2-3 years of experience in setting up and operating VMC machines, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of VMC operation, tooling, and CNC programming.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Experience with measuring instruments and quality control procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position with potential for overtime.
  • Primarily works in a manufacturing or production environment.
